WHAT IS ELDERCARE ALLEGIANCE, LLC?

We are a Home Care Planning consultancy, offering a full range of services to families who seek to keep their aging, ill, or disabled relatives in a safe and comfortable home setting.

DO YOU PLACE HOME CARE WORKERS?

While we do not directly vet, screen, or place home care employees, we know that finding the right person for your situation can make all the difference. That’s why we’ve made it a cornerstone of our business to help you search for and decide on the right providers for you or your loved one, if you so desire. This enhanced service goes well beyond the industry standard. Our large network of potential agencies, and our experience and understanding of their strengths and benefits, often allows us to provide you with detailed information about available options, such as what it’s like to work with a particular agency, how you might balance 24-hour care schedules among multiple caregivers, and so on. (Please note that the decision to use a particular agency, or hire a particular caregiver is ultimately yours, and Eldercare Allegiance cannot assume responsibility for the outcomes of any contractual relationship between you and a third party.)

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING ELDERCARE ALLEGIANCE?
WHY CAN'T I DO THIS ON MY OWN?

You can certainly do things on your own, but when you work with us, you’ll have the benefit of our experience, reputation, accumulated resources and connections. We’re passionate about helping families navigate the Medicaid system, finding the best fit for a caregiver provider, connecting them with needed resources, and educating them about the process.

We are also sticklers for accuracy, and we follow-through carefully on your documentation submissions, making sure everything is done right and on time to avoid a denial of benefits. We’ll help obtain, organize, complete and submit your application, let you know when it’s been approved, and even handle annual re-certifications.

ONCE IT'S SUBMITTED, AN APPLICATION TAKES TIME TO PROCESS.
WHAT CAN I DO IN THE MEANTIME?

Most of our clients can obtain home care services while their Medicaid application is pending approval (a 30-45 day process). Even though “Medicaid pending” home care services may not cover all of the hours the patient requires, it can help you significantly reduce your out-of-pocket expenses right away.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE APPLICATION IS APPROVED?

Once the Medicaid application is approved, Eldercare Allegiance will help you transition into the Managed Long-Term Care program, where even round-the-clock care is available if it is medically necessary.

CAN I HIRE ANYONE I WANT TO PROVIDE CARE?
WHAT ABOUT MYSELF OR OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS?

Yes! Once enrolled into the Managed Long-Term Care plan, you can have family members, a friend, or your current private aides get paid to be the patient’s caregiver, thanks to the CDPAP (Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program) program.

I HAVE A FULL-TIME JOB AND KIDS.
BUT MY MOTHER SUDDENLY NEEDS 24-HOUR ATTENTION.
I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR SO MUCH CARE, AND I CAN'T POSSIBLY DO IT MYSELF!

WHAT CAN I DO?

Eldercare Allegiance, LLC can help you reduce the processing time of the Medicaid application to just 7-10 days and get authorization for medically necessary round-the-clock Home Care Services by the end of the second week. These types of applications also allow you to hire your own aides or family members under CDPAS/CDPAP (Consumer’s Directed Personal Assistance Services/Program). This may also help you avoid needing a Pooled Income Trust.

WHAT IS A POOLED INCOME TRUST?

Medicaid has rigid rules about allowable income levels. Similar to deductibles, anything above those amounts – minus the cost of the health insurance premiums – must first be spent on medical bills before the person can receive Medicaid benefits. You can also choose to pay your excess income directly to Medicaid to meet your monthly surplus, and therefore activate your Medicaid coverage. But practically speaking, living on the monthly income which the senior is allowed to keep is nearly impossible.

That is where the Pooled Income Trust comes in. Each month, an individual with “excess income” can deposit his or her excess income into the trust, which must be operated by a nonprofit organization. The trust will utilize these deposits to pay the individual’s living expenses such as rent, mortgage, utilities, groceries, and so on. A Pooled Income Trust is a unique tool which allows you to shelter your excess income instead of giving it directly to Medicaid each month.

With a private, personal consultation, Eldercare Allegiance, LLC can help you determine the best way to deal with your “excess” income.

I HEARD THAT IT COULD BE PROBLEMATIC TO TRANSFER ASSETS
BECAUSE OF THE FIVE YEAR LOOK-BACK PERIOD. IS THIS TRUE?

Fortunately, there is no look-back period for Community Medicaid. This means that if you transfer your assets one month, you will be eligible for Community Medicaid as of the first day of the following month.

CAN I BE ELIGIBLE FOR MEDICAID IF I OWN A HOME?

Yes, in most cases. Owning a home doesn’t disqualify you from being eligible for Medicaid Long-Term Home Care services, as long as the equity in your home doesn’t exceed $878,000. Contact us to learn how you may be able to protect your property for your children and grandchildren.
